Success Story of Lamborghini
Ferruccio Lamborghini was born in the family of poor farmers on 28th April 1916, his parents worked hard at the farms to make up for the daily expenses and eventually with their hard earned savings. When they bought a tractor, Ferruccio developed his interest in farm mechanics.
Out of curiosity one day when he started working repairing his father’s tractor, his father decided that he would send his son for a technical education and he borrowed some money and enrolled him at one of the technical institute to study mechanics.
In 1944, during the world war, he enrolled into the Italian Air Force and became a prisoner of war in the British Military, as a prisoner they forced him to work with other mechanics in motoring department after knowing his technical abilities. After the war, when he returned home, he started a small garage and worked as mechanic. Soon he started assembling and repairing tractors with old war surplus material for local farmers. It was back then when Lamborghini Tractor brand started.
With his hard work and love for mechanics, it became a successful business, which made him a wealthy man. He owned multiple exotic car back then like Mercedes S1300, a Jaguar and Ferrari but his Ferrari ran into problems with clutch often. Ferruccio who had sound knowledge of engines went to Enzo Ferrari to give some suggestions on how he can solve the issues of the customers as well. Enzo Ferrari told him to stick with making tractors and leave the car industry alone. “You may be able to drive tractors but you will never be able to handle a Ferrari” – Enzo
Lamborghini felt insulted and took this as a challenge and he decided to build his own cars. In 1963 the tractor tycoon established an automobile factory near Sant’Agata. For the brand’s emblem, he chose a bull which was his astrological sign. The first working Lamborghini, the GT350 was created in 1964.
The company continued its Successful streak, debuting celebrated model like the Countach LP500, Urraco P250 and Jarama 400 GTS. Lamborghini was owned by Ferruccio only for nine years. After going through bankruptcy and several changes in ownership at last it was sold to Audi which is parent organization of Volkswagen group.
Today Lamborghini has an estimated net worth of $111 million
